The National Gallery

The National Gallery (Nasjonalgalleriet)is situated in Universitetsgata 13, or a couple of minutes walk from Hotel Bondeheimen. The collections count 4.500 paintings, 1.500 sculptures, 950 plaster casts and 42.500 prints and drawings. In this museum you can see the most famous Norwegian paintings from the last part of the 19th century, including works of Tidemann and Gude. The museum also contains the most famous paintings by the world known expressionist painter Edvard Munch.
